Isolated showers and rains in the interior and north coast…

HAVANA TIMES – In the last 24 hours, numerous rains occurred in eastern Cuba and areas of the northern coast of the west and center, they were isolated in the rest of the country. These precipitations were associated with an upper-level trough which was located over the eastern Bahamas, in combination with local factors and the arrival of low clouds in the northeast flow imposed by high pressures.
During the coming days, the marked influence of high pressure will continue with northeasterly winds that will favor the arrival of low clouds in areas of the north coast with occasional showers. These occasional rains will decrease in the afternoons and increase again at night. The winds will be mainly from the east-northeast with speeds between 15 and 30 km/h, with higher gusts in areas of the north coast. The relative humidity will range from 60-90%. The high temperatures will be at 29 and 30ºC (84 and 86 F) and the lows at 23 and 24ºC (73 and 75 F). The sea surface temperature will be 28ºC (82 F).
A strong high-pressure centered over the eastern United States is building southward toward the northwest Caribbean, and this is causing increased NE winds. In these areas there are moderate winds, locally strong with waves in areas of the northern coast of Western Cuba, as well as swells with danger for small vessels.
Monitoring continues over Hurricane Tammy, which during the day continued moving to the northeast at about 22 kilometers (14 mph) per hour. It maintains maximum sustained winds of 100 miles per hour, with higher gusts, and its minimum central pressure has decreased at 969 millibars, so it continues to be a category two hurricane on the Saffir Simpson scale, out of a maximum of five.
At six in the afternoon its center was estimated at 24.7 degrees North latitude and 61.6 degrees West longitude, a position that places it about 830 kilometers northeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico and 920 kilometers south of Bermuda.
In the next 12 to 24 hours, Hurricane Tammy will maintain a similar course and little change in its speed, tilting its path to the north and then to the northwest on Thursday with the possibility of slight strengthening in the next 24 hours. This organism does not represent a danger to Cuba, it is only of interest for navigation in the area.
In the rest of the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, tropical cyclone development is not expected in the next 12 to 24 hours.
